Eco-sustainability of polyrattan
This handover from natural to synthetic rattan took place in light of the many advantages the latter offers both from the point of view of the producer and of the final consumer. From a production point of view, this fiber drives us towards the frontier of eco-sustainability and waste reduction. The latest Polyrattan generation has significantly cut the percentage of polypropylene needed for its production, and, consequently, the need for oil decreases, a quantity which is already reducing every day. Words like propylene and polymers hardly give the idea of being eco-sustainable, but it is always the production process that makes the difference. Intensive farming of traditional rattan has left its mark, and now the time has come to launch ourselves into the future.

The advantages of polyrattan for the customer
It is easy, at least on paper, to talk about the advantages of a product from the point of view of production, where you start from scratch. It becomes more difficult if we take the final consumer into consideration. Polyrattan can be an eco-sustainable and innovative plastic fiber, but if the advantages do not translate into benefits for the user, marketing and distrubution of these products would always remain very limited. Instead, and the sales figures show it, rattan is a success.
Reduced costs
The reasons? First of all, the reduced costs. It is difficult to find another plastic fiber that offers the same solidity and weather resistance as Polyrattan, regardless of the lack of sustainability. We must not fall into the trap of considering Polyrattan as a relative of PVC or other traditional plastics, which suffer exposure and wear marks.
Resistance
Polyrattan resists UVA and UVB rays, does not suffer from the cold, and does not degenerate over time, with the risk of releasing toxic agents. The practical advantages are also in the short term, with a water resistant structure which makes garden furniture products made of Polyrattan entirely washable without fear of damage or loss of color. The strength of this fiber is amazing: sea salt, chlorine and substances of all kinds have been tested on rattan chairs and armchairs without impacting them. Swimming pools and bathing establishments love these product, as is evident by the increasing spread of it in public places, where the use of this type of furniture is intensive and continued over time.
